Director of Player Development & Competition
Elena oversees player identification, selection and development for NYJTL’s Player Development Programs. Elena’s focus is on building players on court and preparing them for overall success in life. In the past 10 years, 100% of our Advanced Training Program participants have continued their education in college and received numerous academic and athletic scholarships. Elena was ranked amongst the top juniors in Bulgaria and is a former Varsity Women’s tennis player at St. John’s University, graduating with a degree in Computer Science. She is a USTA High Performance Coach and is USPTR certified. She is determined to continue to encourage student athletes to fully develop their overall potential.
Senior Manager of Programs
A former top 10 USTA New England player and varsity NYU Men’s Tennis team member, Chris has also trained for years at highly esteemed academies such as the Nick Bolletieri and the Billy Stearns Tennis Academy. He took that experience into coaching and earned a PTR certification. Shortly after he was promoted to Tennis Director of a 10 court facility at one of the largest YMCA’s in the country, coaching numerous juniors and adults including two #1 USTA players in the New England section. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious AYP Triangle Award for his excellence in leadership, programming and community outreach by the Association of YMCA Professionals. Previously in medical school, he has returned to his passion of being involved in the world of tennis. Chris now brings his winning expertise in management and programming to the new Cary Leeds Center.
An ITF world ranked junior and #2 in Ghana, Michael has play on the ATP Tour as well as in Davis Cup. Equally adept at coaching, his passion for the game is infectious and comes though on court. Teaching beginners, adults and many high level juniors, Michael excels with all types of players. His ability to provide keen instruction and positive attitude along with his exceptional playing skills makes him a great addition to our Cary Leeds staff.
An ITF world ranked junior and former member of the ATP Tours, Godwin played Davis Cup for Ghana. Godwin has been teaching tennis since 2000. His motto is “Don’t give up until it burns one rotten” (Don’t give up until game set and match). He is USPTR certified.
Jelahni Danlahdi Robinson,
Jelahni Robinson has been playing tennis since the age of 7. Competing in junior tournaments since the age of 14, Jelani played tennis for Brooklyn Tech High School, and played 1st and 2nd singles for NCAA Division I team Saint Francis College. Jelahni holds a BA in Business Management. In addition to working with juniors and adults, Jelani is the assistant tennis coach for The College of Staten Island.
Front Desk Manager
A lifelong fan of the game and tennis mom, Ingrid was first introduced to NYJTL as a parent volunteer in 2002, she became a staff member in 2007 as a Co-Site Director for the Community Tennis Program, later moving on to Administrative Assistant to then Sr. Director of Operations, Ron Nano, followed by Tennis Program Coordinator and now the Front Desk Manager of the Cary Leeds Center. She has studied Liberal Arts at CUNY Hunter College (1986-1988) & earned a certificate in Non-Profit Management from Queensborough in April, 2013.
