With a vision to serve the youth of New York City by creating a world-class facility for children and families, NYJTL built the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in Crotona Park - in the heart of the South Bronx.
The Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning, constructed in partnership with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, houses a two-story, 13,000-square-foot clubhouse and educational facility. It serves as the flagship home for NYJTL coaches to provide free year-round instruction and play for young people from beginners to nationally-ranked junior players. The Center will serve more than 30,000 families and children in and around Crotona Park, providing more than 6,000 hours of free tennis court time annually to the community. The tennis programs the Center offers are only part of the story.
It also provides space for educators to help young people improve their performance in school. With a library and study centers, as well as classroom space, teachers and counselors offer young people a quiet and safe place to benefit from a wide range of programs centered around healthy living, character education and academics, including tutoring, homework assistance, SAT and Regents test preparation, and project-based learning.
